Year 2 Football League – Week 13

5th February 2018

Woodstock 1 – 10 Overdale

A great match  but Overdale came away with a convincing win. Well done to both teams!

Uplands 4 – 0 Eyres Monsell

A decisive victory by Uplands in this well matched game. Eyres Monsell were very strong and great attackers but some fantastic goalkeeping by Uplands meant they were unable to score. Uplands were able to break through Eyres Monsell’s defence and score to take their first win of the league. Well done to both teams, it was played in a lovely manner.

Sparkenhoe 7 – 2 Highfields

Sparkenhoe won the match 7-2. It was very cold but the children didn’t mind and all played really well. It was a good game with great chances for both sides and fantastic goalkeeping.

Alderman Richard Hallam 10 – 5 Forest Lodge

Alderman Richard Hallam ran out 10-5 winners, in muddy conditions, against a very good Forest Lodge team. The game was played in a good spirit with both teams attacking and defending very well. The Forest Lodge ‘keeper even managed to score from a goal kick! Alderman Richard Hallam executed some swift counter-attacks which enabled them to pull clear in the latter stages of the match. Well played both teams!

King Richard III 7 – 2 Imperial Avenue

A very fair game enjoyed by both teams.

King Richards took the lead with a good counter attack followed by another 3 before Imperial pulled one back just before half time to give hope in the second half. Although Imperial tried hard to score early in the second half following some great passing moves but could not quite find that extra gear before King Richards scored another 3 to make it 7-1. Imperial then showed great spirit to not give up and again pulled one back late into the second half for it to finish 7-2 to King Richards.

Well done to all involved!

Krishna Avanti 5 – 1 Green Lane

A great game of football with lots of determination to win the ball and attack. Krishna Avanti Primary School were the eventual 5-1 winners against Green Lane Infants. Nikhil bagged 4 goals in the game, taking his tally for the season up to 9. The other scorer for Krishna Avanti Primary School was Rishi, with his second of the season.
