Reception explored how bridges are built
By tapping into the interests of individual children ideas are sparked and a learning thread emerges. When one child used the equipment in the deconstructed role play area to construct ‘London Bridge’ it kick started a detailed exploration of how bridges are built, balanced, and structured.
Children compared the length of bridges, explored how things may move across them and tested how strong they were.
Children worked collaboratively, with focus and perseverance and found imaginative ways to test their ideas. Detailed work, loads of instant evidence of what they know, prompts for next steps, and so much opportunity for talk; spontaneous learning in action!
