Teaching children to make sensible choices when playing and learning on the internet (E-safety) is an increasingly important area for us to develop with the children. We start our year setting rules for safe use of technology and give the children a bank of strategies for what to do if they encounter anything they feel they should not be seeing or hearing on the internet and from other users.
Look out for our E-safety workshop during the Autumn Term to find out more about how you can keep your children safe when using the internet at home. Click here for E-safety advice.
We teach children to use a variety of ICT, including computers, iPads and programmable robots. This includes a mixture of skills like logging on and off, simple programming and saving and retrieving work.
We also give opportunities to play a variety of educational games to practise learning in other curriculum subjects such as phonics, spelling or maths.
We promote the use of technology for a purpose and teach children to use photos, video, word processing and painting apps to showcase their learning e.g. using a talking book app to share something they have researched, or using a green screen technology to perform pieces of writing.
