Meet our 2025-2026 Eco-Warriors-

a passionate group of students dedicated to protecting our environment and inspiring positive change within our school community. Through projects like recycling initiatives, energy-saving campaigns, and campus clean-ups, they work to reduce our environmental impact and educate others about sustainable living. Their goal is not only to make our school greener today, but to build lifelong habits that help protect our planet for the future.

The Eco Warriors delivered an assembly to share the projects they are working on this year. They talked about making compost and explained which items can be put into the compost bin, such as food scraps and fruit and vegetable peelings, to help reduce waste.

They also explained what should be put in the recycling bins and why it is important to recycle correctly. This helps reduce rubbish and protects the environment.

In addition, the Eco Warriors announced a toy swap event that they will be hosting in June. They explained that the toy swap encourages people to reuse toys instead of throwing them away, which helps reduce waste and gives toys a new life.

These projects are important to the Eco Warriors because they care about the environment and want everyone to work together to look after our planet.

Our Eco-Warriors had an inspiring day at Millgate School, run by Leicester City Council, where they took part in an exciting Environmental Roadshow designed to deepen their understanding of the natural world.
Students began with Millgate School’s Animal Care workshop, where students met a variety of fascinating creatures — including snakes, turtles and millipedes. They learned interesting facts about each animal and even had the chance to handle some of them safely.
They then moved on to Leicester Libraries’ “Wild Eco Book Quiz,” a fun and interactive challenge that encouraged them to explore library books, work as a team, and discuss key environmental issues.
The day ended with Twycross Zoo’s “Consider Conservation” workshop, learning about the vital roles species play in their habitats and what happens when biodiversity is lost. This hands-on session highlighted how conservation efforts can help restore balance to ecosystems.
The visit was a fantastic opportunity for our Eco-Warriors to broaden their knowledge, develop new skills and return to school with fresh ideas for supporting the environment within our community.
