The last matches of the Spring term took place this week
Green Lane Infants 1 – 2 Krishna Avanti Primary School
Green Lane and Krishna Avanti met for the second week in a row, kindly hosted by Uplands. The game was an end to end affair on a smaller pitch which really tested the ball control, passing and composure of the players. The fifth minute of the game saw Krishna Avanti Primary School take the lead after it seemed that no-one would score. Yogiraj Dixit swivelled to finish a Kush Popat shot that appeared to be flying in but there is no niceties when it puts your name on the scoresheet. That goal was the only difference in the first half despite some superb saves, shots and headers in a well fought first half.
The second half saw a keeper change with Kush replacing Tanish Patel between the sticks. Kush saved everything thrown at him and with a change of formation for the boys from Avanti, Dilan Rana scored a great goal to put the visitors two ahead. The game continued from end to end and in the 18th minute, Green Lane scored from the monetary lapse of communication in the Krishna Avanti defence to poke the ball into the back of the net. It ensured the last period of the game was tense in which Yogiraj was close to scoring a great header but for the crossbar.
All in all, a great end-to-end game contested in great spirits.
Woodstock 1 – 3 Uplands
Woodstock hosted Uplands in what was a fantastic game. Uplands kept up the pressure bringing the ball up into the danger zone but the Woodstock goal keeper made some absolutely phenomenal saves keeping the playing field level. After some time, Uplands managed to break through and score but this was then matched by a goal from Woodstock scored from the goalkeeper’s box! Wow! We saw some great ball control, passing and set pieces; it was a really exciting game! Uplands managed a further two goals ending the game 3-1 to Uplands.
Overdale 8 – 0 Woodstock
In the previous week, Overdale and Woodstock played their previously postponed match. The result was 8-0 to Overdale.
