Commentary

Sparkenhoe 0 – 4 Krishna Avanti

Krishna Avanti Primary School travelled to Sparkenhoe for their fifth game of the season. The game started well for the visitors with some good passing and shape.

In the forth minute the visitors took the lead when Kush Popat scored a long range effort, placing the ball neatly in the bottom right hand side of the goal. Kush doubled Avanti’s lead a minute later with a free kick that he hit with power, driving the ball into the top corner of the goal. At 2-0, the game looked like it was going to be a one sided affair but Sparkenhoe found their feet and started to attack with some good driving runs and positive play. Despite a few good efforts from both sides, there were no more goals in the first half, very much down to some great goalkeeping and last ditch defending.

At half-time stand in keeper, Dilan Chauhan, came out of goal, replaced by Anay Mistry. It only took two minutes for Krishna Avanti Primary School to extend the lead to three following another long range effort, this time from Dilan Rana. But some superb goalkeeping, the score could have been more. The Sparkenhoe keeper threw himself in front of everything. Both teams battled well and it wasn’t until the 22nd minute that the fourth goal of the game was scored. A long range effort by Krishna Avanti Primary School’s Dilan Chauhan looked to have crossed the line but without goalie technology the referee could not be blamed, but Yogiraj Dixit made sure by prodding the ball home to make it 4-0.

It was a super game in which the Man of the Match was arguably the Sparkenhoe goalkeeper who made numerous saves and very much played in the spirit of the game.
