Admissions

As a state funded school, we follow the local authority’s policies for the admission of new children into the school.

The local authority, Leicester City Council, by default adapt the national admissions guidelines. You can find more information on applying for schools in Leicester City here.

The School Admissions Code, which is available on the Department for Education’s web site, click here for more details.

You can read our Admissions policy here.

Nursery:

In the year before your child turns 3, contact the School to register your interest. You will need to bring a photocopy of your child’s birth certificate. We will write to you to confirm your child’s place. You will  be invited to an induction day to learn about the school and how we will ensure your child’s educational journey is happy, safe and stimulating. You will also be invited to a meeting with one of the team to obtain key information about your child and provide more information about the school. Our Parent Co-ordinator will be available to help those parents whose first language is not English, providing translation and help with completing admission forms. The Nursery Team also conduct Home Visits to help children settle into Nursery.

We can also provide places for those parents who qualify for 30 hours free childcare funding. We also offer extra AM or PM sessions to parents who do not qualify for an additional fee. Please contact us if you would like more details about this.

Reception:

All children in Nursery will need to apply via the Local Authority to move up to Reception year at this school. For new joiners to Reception, information is sent to schools to distribute to parents of Nursery children during September.  If you wish to apply for a full-time place for your child at Uplands Infant School then you need to submit an online application with the Local Authority. They will then write to you to let you know which School your child has been allocated to. All new joiners are invited to an induction which takes place during the summer term. You will also be invited to a meeting with one of the team to obtain key information about your child and provide more information about the school.

To apply online for a place and for more details, please visit the Leicester City Council website here.

Late Starters:

For those with children starting later in the school year for whatever reason, you will need to register with the Local Authority who will allocate a school place for you.

If you have any questions about admissions, please contact the School Office.
